Between 2009 and 2016 there were 156 mass shootings. Every day 315 people in the United States are shot. 93 of them will die from their injuries and 222 will survive but with their lives forever altered (Brady Campaign, 2016).

So far in 2017 the gun lobby has spent $5,763,666 lobbying for gun rights (Open Secrets, 2017). This includes pushing for a Federal Canceled Carry law that would allow a licensed gun owner to carry a concealed handgun across state lines; including into a school zones.

The October 12th #MacroSW Chat will focus on actions that can be taken to pass sensible gun laws. Rachel L. West (@poliSW) will host the chat. The chat starts at 9:00 PM EST/6:00 PM PST.
